Driving $1.2M in Additional Revenue for an E-commerce Brand
The Challenge
ShopDirect, an online fashion retailer with over 8,000 products, was losing organic visibility due to severe technical issues. Faceted navigation created millions of duplicate URLs, category pages had thin auto-generated content, and their product schema markup was incomplete. Despite strong brand recognition, organic search contributed only 22% of total revenue.
Our Approach
The first phase focused entirely on technical remediation. We implemented proper canonical tags and robots directives for faceted navigation, reducing the indexable URL count from 2.1 million to 15,000 high-value pages. We rebuilt the category taxonomy to align with search demand patterns, creating 45 new optimized category landing pages with unique content.
For product pages, we implemented comprehensive Product and Offer schema markup, optimized title tags at scale using templated patterns, and added unique product descriptions to the top 500 revenue-generating products. Our content team created buying guides and style guides that captured informational queries and funneled traffic to product pages through strategic internal linking.
The Results
Over 12 months, organic revenue increased by $1.2 million annually. The conversion rate improvement from 1.8% to 2.4% was driven by faster page loads, better product schema earning rich snippets, and improved category page relevance. ShopDirect now generates 38% of total revenue from organic search, up from 22% at the start of the engagement.
